Employer evaluation scorecard for undecided digital talent

Employer evaluation scorecard for undecided digital talent

If you are lucky enough to have sought-after design, tech, strategy or concepting skills and you are finding it difficult to choose which company to work for, this may help. Based on research from The Future of Doing study, updated and published in How We Talk About Work in 2022, this scorecard prompts you to ask key questions about the 6 needs identified as important to the workplace satisfaction of creative-making talent.

You can download a Google Sheet of the framework to compare options against one another.

For each pillar (purpose, ideas, earning, selling, workplace and collaboration), give the company a score of either 2 (yes), 1 (maybe) or 0 (no). Then add up the 6 numbers to find their score out of 12. You can experiment with weighting the scores (multiplying by a certain number) if you feel some pillars are more important to you than others.

Sometimes you may just have a really strong feeling about a future employer, and that’s OK too! You can also never know for sure until you’re in the role. This scorecard can help if you are undecided and need a decision-making framework to help you take the leap.

If you are an organisation wanting to hire creative-making talent, could you adequately answer these questions and/or offer proof in an interview? Test yourself to find out.
