Redesigning Menopause: Harnessing AI and Service Design for Better Menopause Care
Every year, approximately 25 million women globally will undergo the menopausal transition. In previous generations women quietly suffered or were even institutionalised during ‘the change’. Today, thanks to many determined and high profile Gen-X and Xennial women, menopause is no longer a sitcom punchline about erratic old broads having a hot flash. Doctors, trainers, authors, psychologists, actresses and many women with a platform are advocating for better by sharing their own experiences, vocalising how inadequate the healthcare system and workplaces are for menopausal women while actively building new guidance for younger generations.
As a focus on menopause only started gaining momentum after COVID we have many decades to make up for. Right now, the opportunity exists to leverage AI for far more accurate and supportive advice.
I wrote this article about my own experience and the significant potential for human-centred AI in menopause care.
